Traffic Collision

Thursday, The 29th
It felt a little weird, waking up today. A bad feeling dwelled somewhere in my chest. I knew something bad was going to happen. Especially when I nearly knocked over the computer while trying to pick up my KH project.

When I went down to the breakfast table, my mum asked me: "Are you sure you want to go to school today? It's still Chinese New Year." I just said: "I dunno, ask Jamin." Jamin was all for going to school, for a list of reasons that I can't be bothered to remember. The one fatal decision made by Jamin. Sigh.

We came to the junction in front of Sierramas. There were cars going this way and that, some on their way to school, some to work. The lights were red when we reached the junction. We stopped right at the lights. Several moments later, the lights turned green. I'm absolutely sure it was green, because all the other cars started moving too.

(See diagrams)

The diagram above shows the direction of movement that each vehicle wants to follow. The yellow sports car represents my car, and the stretched picture of a grey car represents the lorry.

When the lights turned green, my mum drove the car forward. I saw- as if in slow motion- the lorry also moving forward. It was too early in the morning for me to react. I guess I expected the lorry or my mum to stop, but neither seemed to notice.

By the time everyone reacted, it was inevitable. We panicked. I was yelling, mom was screaming, and my sister went: "Huh?" We collided hard and, whoa. Sitting in the front passenger's seat, I felt a strong pressure on my body, strong enough to turn rough stones into diamonds. Now it seems that I imagined the pressure, because I was not hurt, nor was the car in any position to crush me.

The inertia of the lorry continued to push us along, it seemed like the lorry driver was still stepping on the gas. When it stopped, I was in shock. We all were. We just sat there in silence for about 20 seconds. I looked around. No one was hurt.

Finally, my mom said: "Hold on, I have to move the car out of the way first." Then, she turned on the engine(I now realize how insanely dangerous that was, because the engine might have been damaged and could explode if turned on) and drove to the side of the road.

We made it to the side of the road, huge chunks of the car falling of the front as we did. The lorry was also stopped by the side of the road. The door opened, and a toothless old Chinese man came out, cursing and shouting. I took one look at him, and hated him.

He looked something like this, only super angry and with glasses. We couldn't hear what he was shouting about, being inside the car. He gestured angrily at the traffic lights, it seems he thinks that we went on a red light.

My mum took a deep breath and went outside to argue. While she was negotiating, I called my dad, who was just leaving for Singapore on business.

"Dad? We got hit by a lorry."

When she came back to the car, my mum called my brother to fetch us back to the house.

After retrieving some documents from the house, mum took my brother's car out to the police station to file a report, and settle the payment and insurance stuff.

I don't know how long it took for my heart to calm down. The collision was just... Heart attack-y. Now I've got junctionaphobia.

It wasn't an accident, it was a traffic collision. As according to Hot Fuzz:

Passer-by, upon seeing two decapacitated people on the road: "What happened, Danny?"

Danny: "Traffic collision." *turns to Nicholas* "Eh, why can't we say 'accident' again?"

Nicholas: "Because 'accident' implies that there's nobody to blame."

In this case, the lorry driver was clearly trying to rush through the red lights.

I walked under a bus, I got hit by a train.
Like falling love, which is kind of the same.

It's A Fruity Chinese New Year

Are nuts fruits?

Orange is the new black, this CNY. Because we're not allowed to wear black on Chinese New Year. Or sweep the floor. But we can Masterswipe the dance floor!

On my father's side of the family, the main attraction is dance. After spending the whole day watching dance movies(we watched three: Take The Lead, Step Up, and Step Up 2-The Streets), we were all hyped up and started dancing our shirts off. Well, actually, that statement only applies to a certain Chan Jun Kit.

What's more, we have video footage. Behold, the youngest B-boy in the family: Evan Chan.

There are actually other videos of the older kids Stomping the Yard, but I'd be embarrassed to show it here, because, well...

We Got Served by Evan.

And the other videos are just us messing around, so it wouldn't be nice to watch, either. Here's a picture of the family.

Oh yeah! We watched Ip Man! He is amazing! The most amazing martial arts show I've ever seen, I liked it even more than Ong Bak. I mean, Ong Bak kicked some serious butt, but this? Major victory.

On the mother's side of the family, we went touring in Seremban. To collect Ang Pows and visit relatives.

Dress code was orange, but I don't have the pictures. And the guests are now arriving, so the post ends here. Goodbye.

Or are fruits nuts?

Year Of The Ox

But cows are so much more fun to post about.

Just one look at this picture and you already know how much better a post about cows would be, as opposed to the surly ox.

I searched "ox" in google, but for some reason this came out. Isn't this a yak? Or something like that.

Anyway, in conjunction with the year, I shall post pictures of cows on my blog. Some of these are bound to make you laugh. Though I'm not sure how many of these retarded beings are real cows.

Okay, okay, this is stupid. Let's go for the 2009 updates.

So it has begun. A new chapter in our story. Each of our stories will be different. What category will yours be?

Okay, most of those won't apply to us. Especially those like fiction and animal stories.

About school...

I'm still in W, and I'm not monitor anymore, thankfully.

*The sky is bright, the birds are singing*

Mano asked me, but I refused, remembering that Dylan, Jeremy and I had agreed not to become monitors again this year.

And guess what? When I come out to break, I find Dylan asking me:

"Are you monitor? I am."

And he asks Jeremy, and Jeremy says he is. I've been betrayed.

But hey, it's their life. Hmm. What's been going on in class?

As Jon mentioned in the cbox, yes. Dev has become the: Worst. Teacher. Ever. I really wonder what happened, because she seemed perfectly nice when she taught us in Form 1. I don't feel like elaborating, anyway. There was a Dev Solomon haters' website online last time, that my sister told me about, but I can't remember where it is.

What else? I sit next to Kwan Sheen for normal classes. For Math, next to Ashwin and Li Yang(who seems to be much nicer a person this year, and wears glasses). For English and BM, I sit next to Bow, just like last year.

Ah, some good times we've had together. Like the apifora event in BM class. Unfortunately, we've already discovered that its not the kind of story that is funny being told, because when we told the story to Kwan Sheen and Li Yang, they maintained their bored and uninterested faces throughout.

BM is my favourite class. What with Salina for my teacher, Alistair beside me, Kelly and Brenda behind and Dylan and Ashwin in front, it makes for the ultimate fun, although Alistair and Ashwin sentiasa bertelingkah. All I can say is that Alistair is super racist(or anti-Ashwin), and goes on and on about Muse's Supermassive Black Hole.

About clubs, I'm in Chess Club with Jeremy, Dylan, Justin, Gerard, Tzer Chyuan, Jia En, Kai Yuan, Wen Shen, Nathan(PJames!), and other Form 3's. The whole class was Form 3. Super Yeoh Kai Yuan is president, and Super Choong Wen Shen is vice(Can't really remember how the "super" thing started, but it did, and that's all you have to know), while I, am the treasurer.

I love the club. Gives us a chance to just talk while making up new ways to play chess. It's better than careers, although last year we also did nothing but talk in Career's Club.

I'm no good at telling stories, so I can't really describe all the little anecdotes and funny moments of school life. And I guess that's it. My new year update. The next post will probably be about Chinese New Year, which is this Monday. Until then, adieu.

Oh, yeah, one more thing.

Happy Chinese New Year!
